The Built from Scratch section really resonated with me. That parallel you drew to Bezos is spot on - the custmer obsession DNA was there at HD two decades before Amazon made it a tech religion. What's fasinating is how Marcus and Blank multi-dimensionally applied these principles across the business rather than just paying lip service to them. The lower prices, broader selection combo created this flywheel where scale actually meant better customer value, not just margin expansion. That's so rare in brick-and-mortar retail where the temptation is always to use scale for margin. The other books on your list look solid too - particularly curious about The Power Law's take on luck vs skill in VC since that's a debate that never quite gets resolved. Thank you for the comment and sharing your take! I was really struck when I felt I had read that somewhere. Then I remembered it was in Bezos letters; went back to them and it was almost the same. What Brian and Marcus did is admirable!
